Kimberly Ireland-Town Councilwomen
As a wife, mother, homeowner, and career professional, Kimberly Ireland understands the need to establish priorities and stick with them. As a member of the Ballston Town Council the best interest of Ballston residents are a top priority for Kim.
A homeowner with her husband Jim, Kim appreciates the fiscal restraint of the town that allows it to run town tax free. Knowing that a paycheck can be stretched only so far, Kim works to maintain the tax free status of the town.
Kim truly values the small town character and warmth of Ballston. She understands the need to allow for responsible economic development, while at the same time is very much opposed to the over development of the town. She works to find a balance that meets the needs of the town. In doing so, she will monitor the progress of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan to ensure it is working in the best interest of Ballston and make changes if necessary.
The mother of two young daughters Mary and Anne, Kim supports efforts by the town to expand recreational opportunities and open space in Ballston. Kim believes that there are opportunities to improve recreational resources already owned by the town and would like to explore new possibilities as well. Kim has worked with the Jenkins Park Advisory Board as a liason to the Town Council, finding ways to improve the park.
Kim understands the need to plan for the future. That is why she has proposed that the surplus provided to Ballston from the County be placed in a special account to help fund future open space initiatives.
Kim Ireland is a strong supporter of two-way communications between elected officials and town residents. Understanding that town officials can learn a thing or two from residents, Kim supports the establishment of town hall meetings.
Kim Ireland will work for and be accountable and accessible to the people of Ballston. She is a strong, new voice working for the betterment of Ballston.
Kim is a graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland where she currently sits on the College Council to which she was appoint by the former Governor. She and her husband Jim and daughter’s Mary and Annie reside in Burnt Hills.
